Holiday Party on a Budget
Potato Party, anyone? In an article in the New York Times titled, “We’re Going to Party Like its 1929” writer Alex Williams teamed up with famed event planner, David Monn, to design a holiday dinner party for eight at his West Village apartment on a recessionary budget — say, $30 a head for food, décor, everything.
One of the keys to his success was reducing the amount spent on food and wine, including not serving a protein at the center of the plate. What do you think the main course happened to be? Big, beautiful twice-baked potatoes!
Here are some Twice Baked Potato recipes–use large russets for a main course. Twice Baked are wonderful appetizers as well, so try baking the smaller red potatoes for those “finger food” dishes.
